Default Switching from a SKto G1..HELP!

So i have a SideKick LX...i loved it....but unfortunately exactly a week b4 i received my G1, i was at a party and my phone was accidentally (i hope) dropped in a bucket of beer (litterally) and now the screen wont come on...

I know the phone works because i can hear it when i put in my password at start up...is there anyway of retrieving my contacts? Right now i've been adding 1 at a time when ever some one calls me on my G1...

My question is, is there any way possible of getting those contacts from the SK and transferring them to the G1?

Unless they are saved to your SIM, I dont think there is anyway you can do it.

Maybe take it to the Tmobile store and see if they have a way

see if it's in your myt-mobile desktop...
    if so
intellisync to Outlook or outlook express
export to cvs file to your computer....
load into gmail from gmail contacts...
you'll browse to file and load to gmail contacts

google outlook to gmail contacts, lots of info on the web... goodluck

PS just did this myself... not the beer part....
Things are getting better, don't you think...

I had the same problem, my screen went out to after I dropped it. Here is the thing, the Desktop Interface from my.tmobile won't be available once you switch from the sidekick plan to the G1 data plan.

If for some reason you havent switched the data plan yet, do as the poster above suggested and download intellisync or you can print out your contacts and input manually into gmail. I chose the latter and cut down 400+ contacts to about 290.

    Good luck...

I downloaded the intellisync from my t-mobile interface page (it will cost you 9.99) and transfered all my contacts from my SK to Outlook (as posted above you can use Outlook Express also).

Once that is done here is something else you will want to do before exporting a .csv file (a .csv file is a comma separated value file which can be imported into most e-mail systems, g-mail is one of them)(just explaining that incase someone is un-aware).

When you get the contacts into Outlook you will want to correct any names that only contain a single name like if the contact is only saved as "John" you will want to make it "John Doe" or something else after his name so that you can still identify him.

The reason for this is once you export the .csv file, when you go to import it into g-mail, for some reason, it will delete the name of the contact and replace thair name with their phone number, so all you will have is a random phone# as a contact.

You can always go into your mytmobile account and look at your call log. If you know the contacts by heart, you can get the numbers from there.
