    Exclamation T-Mobile G1 Data Plan/Text Messages

    Q. Can I use my $19.95 unlimited family messaging plan with the $25 dollar G1 internet feature?
    A. You can actually just use a $19.99 Data plan alongside the $19.95 messaging to eliminate wasting the $5.00, T-Mobile just doesn’t want people to know they can do this.
What exactly is the $19.99 data plan? Because when you start a new 2yr contract they make you choose between 2 options.
    A. $25 - data plan - unlimited data + 400 messages (SMS/MMS/IM/etc)
    B. $35 - data plan - unlimited date + unlimited text messages.

Whats the $19.99 data plan you all speak about, would it be the same internet plan that i currently have now, which i use for my blackberry internet service?
I have a tmobile family plan unlimited texts which is $20 split between 2 and the internet is $20 for me alone, how does this all work out? I'm quite confused. How much will i be paying if i want unlimited everything &which plan would give me unlimited text/data for the lowest price? Which is the best combo? Help?

$19.99 Internet is otherwise called total Internet. It is mobile Internet access paired with unlimite tmo hotspot. No messaging package is included.

Oh alright, well with the current phone i have, the only $19.99 plan i have is the "Blackberry Unlimited Add-on - $19.99" The BlackBerry Unlimited Add-on includes unlimited BlackBerry Web Client e-mail and Web browsing. Does not include text/instant messaging. And that doesn't include tmo hotspot. Also i have a family unlimted text bundle which is $19.99(split between two) so my total is $30. But i plan to start a new 2yr contract with unlimited data/messaging. But my problem is will they even let you have the option of having the normal $19.99 "total-internet" as a service option or will they only lock you in to the two data-plan options $25/$35. ?

When you get your G1, call 611, I dont think you'll have a hard time switching to the $19.99 plan if that is what you want.

I plan to do the same too

Looked on Tmobile sites for family plans and I found that they have an Unlimited EVERYTHING (minutes day, night, weekend, text/pic msg) plan for 150.00 and seeing I can have up to 5 lines on my acct it averages 30 per phone number/month plus data and insurance and taxes I am looking at about 200/month for UNLIMITED EVERYTHING for my three phones. Sweet...the extra boost in cost will be for the 35/month data plan for my G1

Fine print, my friend. It is $150 for unlimited on the first two lines. $49.99 additional per line added up to 5.

I am actually confused about this, too, because I asked 611 several times if I can use my $19.99 data plan and they all have said NO. They said I have to use either $25 or $35 3G plans or I would not be able to use my G1 at all I just don't want to pay for 3G services when all we have here is EDGE (we currently don't have 3G network here in Utah).

You're not paying extra to use EDGE. You're paying the $19.99 data plan plus $4.99 for 400 SMS, bundled together in one package.

Now, if you're used to using T-zones, yes, you are paying more for the G1.

(Edit: ok, you're paying two cents extra. Sue me.)

Just for clarification. The $19.99 Total Web deal is identical to the $25.00 deal? Just doesn't include the 400 text? (Which with family plan texting is pointless for me)
