I have been looking at and reading about the G1 android phone since before it came available. I really want to get one but im not sure how good the T-mobile service is. I left Nextel cause i never had service anywhere and had a million dropped calls. I now have Verizon and i mostly have service everywhere i go with very few dropped calls. I use my phone for work so i cant afford to not have service in most places.
Can anyone tell me if the T-mobile service is as good as Verizon or better???
Im new to this so sorry if this is in the wrong spot. Thanks
I've had Verizon for three years before I went to T-Mobile and sadly...
Verizon has way better coverage...especially 3G coverage.
T-Mobile has better phone choices though...since you can always get an unlocked phone and put your sim card in.
But if you are looking for coverage, stick with verizon.
Plus, new and better phones come out every week or two![]()

Here I always have tmo service, lots of my friends with Verizon have really bad service. In Naperville, il
I'm in a similar situation. I've got a company phone (Moto-Q) on the Verizon network which seems to work well for my travels (home base in Seattle, but I also go to Portland, Dallas, Phoenix, LA, etc). I usually don't get any dropped calls (even while driving). I'd like to get a G1 Phone, but I would need to switch to a non-company plan and I also need to have reliable service while traveling.
From my research on the web, it seems that T-Mobile has relatively good coverage, but when you compare the converage map for T-Mobile and Verizon, Verizon is the clear winner. So, I suggest you check out the coverage maps on the Verizon and T-Mobile sites and see if the required coverage is suitable for your needs. The maps break out coverage in voice and data, so that should help.

yeah check coverage maps, t-mobiles service may be good enough for you but its mostlikely going to depend onwhere you are located most of the time

thanks for all the posts but my verizon phone dosent have a sim card. so no way to use my verizon account on the unlocked g1. Im from South NJ and verizon service around here is awesome. Nextel service here sux bad.
I'm also in nj depends where u live check the coverage maps. I get awesome 3g at work and at home with tmo and even get hotspots it is on right now at home as I type. Live in the shore area and work bout 20 mi north in matawan.
Left verizon few years ago had poor coverage at my house along with poor cust service and not getting voice mails and texts. Never had that with tmo in 3 yrs.
Just check the maps they are accurate and you won't be unhappy if u make the switch...
Wife still has verizon wish she would drop them really had bad experiences
I hate tmobile service.. I just like their Customer serice, plans and phones.
I always get dropped calls.
Nothing compared to Nextel though. That one was the worst.

it really just depends on where you are, I've never been somewhere I didn't have coverage with Tmobile, one of my friends just switched from Verizon to Tmobile because he wanted the G1 and he said he's glad he switched, same coverage and a better phone than he had before.
