Is anyone else getting a little anxious about the next Android device? I'm not sure if I am going to get the G1 at $299 or wait for the next Android device! Anyone else waiting?

I'm not trying to say anything bad about it... I'm just wondering if anyone else is waiting for the next Android device or if anyone has heard any word on what it might be or who might make it.
I'll be honest... the G1 is a slick phone... lots of functionality, but definitely not the most attractive phone I have seen and at $299 I really have to question if it is worth it.
Hm, might sound like a good idea. In a sense it's not always good to spend your money on the very first invention. Usually theres lots of fundamental specs missing, kinks needed to be worked out, and other problems to the phone, such as a more advanced GUI (it's quite dull, not quite as attractive as HTC's normal touch flow interface" , there's no video capture but playback? To me, that just doesn't sound right, since we're this far in technology. To be honest i like the phone and i'm very anxious to see what it can do, but as far as what i see of the phone right now. I'm disappointed a bit. I thought it could of been a lot better, as far as its specs, and style. The video playback doesn't seem to use the whole screen, lots of normal basic stuff missing that could really improve the phone. But theres bound to be plenty versions of the G1 to be released eventually. So if you're really anxious and want to be the first to test it out and get your hands on something new. I would suggest go for it. You may or may not like it. But you can also just wait for a more appealing version of the phone to come out. And hopefully tmobile doesn't just upgrade the phone and make another version by just changed the way it looks... Like the "sidekick" , it really is pointless. Stop being an American, i'm tired of the same old consumerism, economic market ****. That means upgrade the specs, put more memory, upgrade the battery life, give us flash on the cams, video record &playback, A2DP, a more appealing interface, accelerometer, a g-sensor, GPS, etc !!! Give the people what they want lol, we're supposed to be advancing in technology. By now you would think we'd have LIVE CAM video phone calls lol![]()

I hear ya... I have nothing against Android... I'm actually extremely excited about it! I'm just not so sure about the G1... like I said, definitely not the nicest looking phone out there for $299. Why couldn't HTC have used the Touch Pro or Touch HD or any other nice looking phone? I know I'm going to spark a riot, but the G1 looks like a prototype phone. A trackball, touch screen, and keyboard? Sounds like what a developer would need to work with it, but not an end user.
Also, everyone says just go for it and then get the next one when it comes out. What a flawed philosophy... you're in a contract! So, if I get this one there's the possibility of a handful of others coming out in the next two years, but I'll be married to the G1 for two years!
With everything that will be coming out for the G1, I am not the least bit worried about the next gen.. This one should keep me entertained until my contract is about up..![]()

How in the world do you afford to cycle phones that often? I have honestly been lingering on the fence to get an iPhone, but I refuse to go back to AT&T... now, if I could get one for $199 and put it on T-mobile, I would do it in a heart beat.
I'm just really wondering if Samsung or LG is going to put out a sweet iPhone-esque Android device... all touch screen, no keyboard? I guess we need that virtual keyboard first!
Seems like a new phone is premiered every couple weeks, which is a good thing for us consumers. I for sure will tie myself to a G1 for the next couple years. It is more than what I need in a phone and there is more to come from developers. I want to be there when the apps start flowing. Of course the hardware specs leave room for improvement, especially if you compare to a new release by Nokia and others. The new Nokia may not be the most attractive, but it's loaded with features.

To answer your question, yes, I'm anxious about the next Android device, in couple years.
Is it just me or do most of the new intelligent phones follow some kind design pattern. I bet I could sketch the new Motorola, LG, Samsung or the next HTC touch phone.
I sure am glad the G1 stands out from the rest of the crowd.![]()
