I too was worried about what would come out next, but if you constantly think like that, you will never get what you want? I will have what I want now, and if something comes out in a month, I will be envious if it looks better, but by the time my 2 year contract is up, the technology will have changed so much that what I have and what I envied will look like it was made by a 3 year old

I change phones about every six months or so too. My curve is actually the longest I kept a phone in a long time, I have had it since February. So, when I see something new I want, I get it and don't let the contract stuff bother me. I take really good care of my phones, so I support my "habit" by selling the replaced phones on ebay. I usually make enough to pay for my new one that way.

Do you guys buy unlocked phones or just pay the cancellation fee and get on with it?

the G1 hardware specs are simply put, good enough... nothing fantastic, and with the android being open source and from Google, you can expect software updates to come out without problems... now since its based on android and this phone is heavily relying on the operating system, whats so fancy about another phone?

5.0, maybe even 8.0 megapixel camera? different sleek look that takes a crapload of functionality away that you may be used to? no memory card slot?

if you are purely getting this phone for the aesthetics, then wait... something much better and cleaner looking will be on the way... if you're more of a tech guy like me, then you know it makes no difference with the open endedness of this phone...

my only complain is the amount of RAM, but what profession mobile operating system based phone has much in the last 8 years anyway...

Of course the hardware specs leave room for improvement, especially if you compare to a new release by Nokia and others. The new Nokia may not be the most attractive, but it's loaded with features.

All I know is that the HTC touch HD has got to be the sexiest phone I have seen to date. I hope its released soon in the US, but until then I'll be putting my iPhone to rest for the G-1. Hopefully I wont regret it. I got to play w/ one for a couple of minutes this week, & surprisingly its not as ugly in person as it is in pics.
