I Got Mine. Went to the Official Launch thing at Oxford Street, stood outside in the cold for and hour, was interviewed by CNN got a whole bunch of goodies and of course my phone.
Met nice people in the queue, at least one of them was a lurker here (sorry didn't get you name.
Ok, I know I am not the only one who got the phone today, so where are you all?
Posted from my G1
i got mine - i was 10 in the queue i think and about the 4th or 5th to get one.
ive set up a diary of the G1 review blog thing here

i didnt get any goodies - they even swiped the umbrella off me!![]()
So how do you like it? Don't hold out on us =)
I don't know if this thread will be as full as it could have been. Upgrades not available until January.
Got mine at 8:20am in Southampton this morning - only me and one other person buying at that time, but that's probably for the best as they only had ten in stock, 3 black and 7 white!
No goodies for us though -- were they any good? Shame that us non-Londoners get second-rate treatment in goodie-distribution!

This is not true. I am an upgrader and I got mine on flex 30 (paid £70 for phone). It did take them a while to sort out and it probably helped that I was at the official Launch and All top bods from T-Mobile there along with the press. Obviously they didn't want to have anyone being pissed off in front of the cameras.
As for the freebies I got lots, some in the queue while waiting (they served us coffee) and once there were problems with my account they really flooded in. In total I have.
1 T-Mobile Golf Umbrella
1 Red Google Drawstring bag
2 google spiral notepads
4 YoYos (3 Google 1 T-mobile, Google ones light up)
3 Google Pens
4 Tubs of Assorted sweets (T-Mobile Branded)
On top of this I was interviewed for CNN (while waiting in the queue).
So all in all I rated it worth getting up at 5am for (I live out in Essex but work in London)
I am sorry that others have had bad experiences today, I know that this was badly run by T-mobile both here and in the US, but once you get the phone the problems will fade away.
I think that, like you say, being at the official launch helped. The T-mobile website was still offering pre-registration this morning (don't get me started on that pathetic fiasco) at 9am, and going into a store just elicited the 'new customers only - upgrades in january'. Rang 150 to sort things out, but was on hold for so long, I just dumped the contract. In the other UK thread, monkeybutler describes his 'offer' of £300 on a £25 tariff. By the time most of us could get the G1, we'll be paying for apps that new customers are downloading for free. Hardly good customer relations.
Still, let's be positive here, enjoy the G1, the specs suggest that it's going to have a longer life than some sites predict - it might be a first gen Android device, but the spec is way above what was being predicted earlier in the year.
yes i was an upgrader too - it was free on ermm... combi 35 (£40 a month)
i was all set to grab the CEO if they made me pay for it.
which in fact i did - and said - i hope you dont charge me for upgrading.
and they didn't!
compared to the my tmobile site
which wanted £80 for me to upgrade to an N95 classic on flex35.
so far i like it. but time will tell -
theres going to be lots of stuff coming that will make it way better
i wish there was a virtual keyboard option too
sometimes it not going to be convenient to flip out the keyboard
but at least the transition is lighting quick.
shaun i went into t-mobile this morning and was told upgrade was possible.untill he told me how much it would cost to upgrade three hundred and fifty pound what he did say that i could cancell my contract now and take out a new one.was not to woried about my old number.
this i did and also got a discount on the line rental and 3 pound of the insurance and my bill per month is 10 pound cheaper.so yes i am well happy and the phone is fantastic
