[Tutorial] Hero Optimized + A2SD + Rosie internal

Beta 0.5 Script Kit

Once I get feedback about the script I will make this a visual tutorial. I already have the screenshots I am just going to be lazy for a bit. (p.s. it's 3:12am here now)

I have gotta an excessive amount of tweets from people asking how I set up my phone. How to optimize how to Internalize Rosie and how to setup apps2SD.

[[Section 1: Preparation]]

Prerequisites:

You at this point should have the following to continue:
- Rooted G1 with 2GB SD Card or larger (partitioned)
- JF 1.43 Recovery Image installed
- Updated Radio 2.22.19.26I
- Haykuro's Special SPL Installed
- Windows XP/Vista/7 with Android SDK Installed

Partitioning your SD Card

****FIRST and Foremost (Back up the data on your sdcard before)*** Use your favorite Partitioning software (Paragon, Ubuntu LiveCD or whatever you use) to make the paritions. Usually EXT2 should be around 500MB for the apps and caches and such make the rest Win32. I personally used the Android app Apps2SD2 on the market. You can just pay 1 dollar and download it then run it and it will ask you the size of each partition with a slider. Tap Apply, your done. (AppstoSD2 I think is in XDA Forums it should be on there free if I recall.

[[Section 2: Installing Haykuro Hero and Apps]]

Installation:

Contents of Step 1 Directory:
update.zip (Haykuro's Orginal Recipe Hero with Rosie Rom)
app_s folder (Haykuro's Orginal Recipe Hero with Rosie app_s Folder minus some un-needed apps.

Directions:
1. If you don't have the prerequisites DO NOT PROCEED. Go to XDA forums and Search all the topics Read them .. Read them again and then Act.

***** Additional Note ***** Copy adb.exe and adbwinapi.dll to your C:\Windows\System32 folder so that you
can invoke the adb command from any directory on your computer. To make it really easy I have a copy in the
Step 2 Folder and a batch script for Vista/Windows 7 users that will do it for your automatically. *****

ONWARD!

2. This is more of a note. I assume you have extracted my zip to your desktop. In vista the working directory of this zip contents would be C:\Users\*YOUR COMPUTER USERNAME**\DESKTOP\DEADPHOENIX OPTIMIZE\ If you extracted my zip somewhere else you will of course need to simply navigate yourself to the Deadphoenix Optimize Folder in a Command prompt. Going forward I will assume the above.

3. Once your app_s are successfully transfered exit the prompt and Mount your Phone.

4. Copy the update.zip in Step 1 Directory to your regular sd card.

5. Unmount and Power down your phone. Reboot Holding Home + Power Key.

6. Once booted into JF Recovery 1.43 Alt+W to Wipe then Alt+S to Apply the Update.

7. Once Update is Applied press Home + Back to reboot.

8. Wait for your Phone to boot up with new HTC Logo which will Loop. Wait for 2 loops.

9. Now tether your phone with the USB cable

10. Open a Command prompt and change your working directory to C:\USERS\DEADPHOENIX\DESKTOP\Deadphoenix\Optimize\ Step 1 (AGAIN THIS IS MY USERNAME make sure to navigate where your Step 1 Working directory is.)

11. We are going to move the app_s data to the EXT2 Partition with the following command:

adb push app_s /system/sd/app_s

(Should be 88 Files.. I trimmed the fat of the orginal apps because this is a optimization tutorial however you can always install them later if you really want them back.)

You now have a basic Haykuro Hero with Rosie Installed on your phone (Minus somebloated apks.)

[[Section 3: Optimizing your Haykuro Hero and Apps Build]]

Opimization:

Contents of Step 2 Directory:
- Rosie (Folder) (contains the widgets that will be internalized)
- SU (Folder) (Contains SU.apk Terminal.apk and Superuser.apk)
- adb (You should know what this is)
- AdbWinApr.dll (ADB Resouce)
- Clicker.apk (Again Obvious)
- dexopt-wrapper (the File optimizer)
- HTC_IME.apk (VK)
- HTCCamera.apk (Camera Package from Orginal hero)
- optimize.sh (the optimization Script)
- Rosie_apps_optimize.bat (My Script used to optimize your Hero Rosie Build)

As you can see I was busy combining the optimization techniques avialable to all. I then made that handy batch file to install them.

Directions:

1. Make sure your phone is connected via USB but NOT mounted to the Operating system.

2. Run my batch Script (Rosie_apps_Optimize.bat) in the Step 2 Directory.

3. Choose Option 1 by pressing 1 then hitting the enter key.

4. Your phone should reboot after option 1 wait till the menu comes up again then proceed.

5. Choose Option 2 by pressing 2 then hitting the enter key.

6. Your phone should reboot after option 2 wait till the menu comes up again then proceed.

7. Choose Option 3 by pressing 3 then hitting the enter key.

8. Your phone should reboot after option 3 wait till the menu comes up again then proceed.

9. (Optional: Install alternate Virtual Keyboard and Camera) Choose Option 4 by pressing 4 then hitting the
enter key.

10. Your phone should reboot after option 4 wait till the menu comes up again then press 5 to exit.

*****NOTE***** Option number 3 is the odex file optimizer. If you download new files from the market and want to make odex files for performance increase then simply load my script again and press 3. I designed it that way for your convience.

I still recommend you do a nandroid back up before attempting.. I am sick and A little fuzzy in the head at the moment and this is a first draft with some comic elements for the vet G1 Modders...

If a new build comes out... Which only the Squished Versions have been having updates due to bugs they made when they squished it... I will update the tutorial once I confirm it still works with the new build =).
