Default Using Salling Media Sync to sync G1 & iTunes

I got the idea from another thread [link] to use the software - I had never heard of it before... never really had a need for it... But it's fantastic.

First off, I'm using Windows Vista Home Ultimate. I think the software is available for Mac OSX as well, but there are already ways to sync via Mac... so whatever...

I just wanted to post a few screenshots and simple tutorial on how to use it to sync music, audio podcasts, and even video podcasts with your G1.

    1. Download and install the software from here. After installation, check "run at startup" or whatever it says... You should have the Salling logo in your taskbar (down by your clock)
    2. Make sure that "Use for USB storage" is checked under "settings >> SD card & phone storage".
    3. Connect your G1 to your PC via the miniUSB cable.

-- If you try to run the program before connecting your phone, you may get screens like this:

      or

No problem, just close the window and connect your phone.
    4. Once your G1 is detected, Salling should pop up on it's own. (This is a setting, but default is to open automatically)
You should see something like this:
    5. Click on the "Music" tab at the top, and change the settings to your liking. Choose which playlists you want to sync, or sync all your music if you have room and want to.
    6. Click on the "Podcasts" tab and do the same. How many episodes of each, which ones, etc.
    7. Click "Sync" at the bottom. It will take a few minutes, but it will copy over all your selected music / podcasts.
That's it! It's really simple, and probably doesn't need a tutorial, but just in case, here it is.

If you have any questions, ask away.

I'm using the free version of the software. The limitation is that it re-copies all the files, instead of just the new ones... It doesn't make duplicates though - just overwrites. It just takes a little bit longer to sync. Not a huge deal for me, but if you want it faster sync, they do offer the registered version for $22.
