Yahoo mail using WIFI ??

I am not able to check my yahoo email while the phone has WIFI turned on.
it gives me a connect error
Does anyone know how to make this work?

Hmmm it sounds like it has something to do with your internet or router... check your connections and can you see if you can connect somewhere else and verify it works there?

My router is working fine
because i have wireless laptop and it connects fine.
I know when i sign up for yahoo on phone it said something about only can connect though tmobile network.

Free yahoo email (using the G1 Email client) only works over 3G or Edge. It does not work over WiFi. This is easy to test by enabling/disabling WiFi.

I don't why T-Mobile put this unreasonable limitation on the G1. It's probably so users will be encouraged to use Gmail. The G1 Email client needs to be changed as soon as possible to work over Wifi.

I don't know but I don't have problem with yahoo.mail and WiFi connection.

I have WiFi at home and I can check yahoo e-mail and also when I use city WiFi. is work.

Well, yahoo doesn't even offer free pop3 access to free accounts anyway, so it isn't a surprise that you would have to go through their network to use it. I'm also having the same "problem," that is if it's even a problem.

Thanks for explaining that. I see some of the problems that people blame on the phone apps are actually problems that are related to something else that has nothing to do with the application.

Yeah, after thinking about, its probably Yahoo that is restricting the G1 to only check email over 3G or Edge. Yahoo is "giving" paying Plus customers the ability to access email over Wifi. This puts free Yahoo Mail at a great disadvantage to free Gmail on the G1.

I can do it both over 3G or WIFI but I still get connection error sporadically.

i dont have 3G and i can go to yahoo.com through the browser on wifi and check my email. i have to go back the the older version of yahoo mail but thats ok with me
