Cool Your G1 browsing technique to..

Hit those tiny page # links in the bottom right corner on Android community forums

    That's pretty tricky right there.

I've been doing it Sidekick style by attempting to get the trakball to land on top of it.

Otherwise I have to zoom WAY in to get my finger to be able to hit the exact page # im going for.

..and i already have my fonts set to large.

Curious as to other's clicking techniques on a setup like that

yup- thats about the only real way of nailing it ;/

kinda wish the G1 had a dpad on the left.. that thing is great for super precision control in situations like tiny number links

I find that the trackball does this better than a zoom/finger press. Then again, the ball is too fast sometimes, even unresponsive sometimes. Especially when I'm trying to reach a thread which was recently posted in on AC(works fine on other forums I frequent).

I'm finding that when I reply to a thread on AC forums from my G1, i get a redirect page which does not redirect me back to the thread I replied to- it redirects me here:

    http://androidcommunity.com/forums/

    anyone else seeing that?

If I reply from my computer- it doesnt send me to a redirect page at all- it just goes to the thread with my reply on it.

My kid has a Nintendo DS lite- and I've gotta say that slide-in stylus is pretty sweet- it has PINPOINT precision on the touchscreen.

you could nail a tiny number link in a second.. no mistakes.

A g2 with a stylus like that would be cool.

I took it out of his DS and tried it on the G1. No dice.

No, haven't seen that quirk but from http://androidcommunity.com/forums/ the Latest Topics and Replies links send me to "Page not found" whereas they work properly on my laptop.

To answer the OP, I'm not a big fan of trackballs but sure don't see a way around using it on the G1. The type is so tiny on many pages, including many non-browser screens that have no zoom option (e.g., the unnecessarily cramped Display screen where the font size is chosen), I see no way around using the trackball. I wonder how you clean that puppy when it inevitably starts sticking?

I tried my old Treo stylus out of curiosity although I figured it wouldn't work on the G1's capacitance touch screen (same type as used on the iPhone and Storm). Nothing.

With gloves on--it was below freezing this morning--both the touch screen and trackball are hard to manipulate. That's a problem.
