Hope it doesn't take too long for someone to port one of the many emulators for the HP 48/49 series calculators over to Android.
I've had one for my PC and one running on my old iQue 3600 (Palm OS) and find it an absolute necessity.
There are a couple of ports of it for Mac OSX, as well as Linux, so maybe it won't be too much of a stretch to port over to Android.
If anyone is interested, you can find all the existing emulators for lots of HP calcs as well as the source code and ROM files (legally distributed with HP's blessing) for them at:
www.hpcalc.org
Yea that would be useful I hope someone works on it. What would be nice for me since im a loan officer is an app that calculates mortgage payments and refinancing and all that heh. Just one less thing for me to carry around then.
Gosh...that's such a trivial thing I'll almost guarantee someone will, and probably several someones. That's the kind of thing some high school student would do as a science project or something.
I bet for Nokia, WinMo, and Palm there are no fewer than 30 applications that do exactly that!
I own an HP48g, HP50g and HP35s.
Having said that, I have been thinking of making an emulator for Android based on the 48 ROM ever since I heard about the Android OS. It really would be the ultimate way to ensure this awesome ROM achieves immortality.
And there's already a scientific calculator that will be in the market for download on day one.
Hi!
Well, I would like to ask, if may somebody knows about some clue if a HP48 emulator may be available by now for ANDROID or if may be somebody working on one by now...
Also I wonder if some of the emulators that appears available on this page could be run in the Android system by means of a another emulator (by example some place talks that Android may support natively Java progs, so I wonders if none Android compiled emulator may be available, if then, a Java compiled version of a HP48 emulator may run or a DOS based could be runin a G1 phone...)
http://www.hpcalc.org/hp48/pc/emulators/
I really like my G1, but by now the only thing that make me tied to a Palm is the HP48 emulator since a field construction engineer, there many day-today small progs that I wrote since several years ago and that today and by the time to come, I will still use and need, I wonder that would be really wonderfull to carry only one device for all the things and take care of charge only one device for all (until now I still have to care about my cell phone and also about carry my Palm T3 for office docs and the HP48 progs).
Well, thanks for kind attention, and may guess that may be a big group of users that would be gratefull if a HP48 emulator could be run on the wonderfull Android phones.
Thanks again and best regards to all!
Hello!
Just found this link of a HP48s emulator ready for running in Java phones, and the screenshots are very interesting...
screenshots:
http://sourceforge.net/project/scree...group_id=94546
Info:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/forty8/
aditional description:
http://www.hpcalc.org/details.php?id=5875
I wonder is could be possible to make this prog to run in android
best regards.
That's a step closer, but I'm not crazy about the way it looked in those screenshots. If it doesn't *look* like an HP48 series, then I might as well use some other RPN calc app.
But it's only been a few months....someone will do it eventually.

There's not so much hp emulators out there. I started to work on a port of the X48 project. the problem is I'm a big C/linux newbie, so I don't know if I will produce something good enough to release. I already have a proof of concept but the bad performance (even with the NDK) is something I'm afraid of
