Question Applications that allow how to find your pets(dogs) if ever lost by a implant chip

here is an idea!!!..... Designing a application that could sync your phone to your dogs implant chip so you could see your dog in a radar if he goes out of your property for more than 50 yards it would let you know that your dog or pet is out of your house range and you could track it on your gps application by the alert... Your dog would never be lost unless they do something bad and take it out of the pet.... That is unhumanitarian but hey the idea is an awsome because you dont have to go looking for it everywhere and you could look it up on your phone.....

i think the chip itself would have to have gps technology as well

Yes, it would need to be a transponder of some sort.

Very nice thinking - but as comment above states GPS technology would have to be in dog chip

My knowledge is not too expansive regarding the GPS in the chip, but I do know there are some that have GPS and some that don't. When people refer to "microchipping" I believe it is just a chip that when scanned will show the pets vital information including owner, address, and phone number. This is primarily useful when a pet "runs" away, is picked up by a local authority. The local authority would then scan the pet to see if they do have a microchip and if they do they would then return the pet to the owner. I don't believe that a "microchip" in that sense has a GPS, but I do know there are transponder's that you can purchase to put on the pets collar, and there are services online that you could use to track your pet through that transponder. It would make things much easier if those online services came out with an android application somewhat similar to the radar directly on your phone so you could locate your pet with one button. Interesting idea.

Something like this, but for android. Integrated with maps, radar, and even street view if possible. http://www.roameoforpets.com/

Ugh. i don't think I'd want that implanted in my dog. I'd rather just use a leash/fence/chain/closed doors combo and good training to keep my dog at home.

That is, if I ever get another dog.

Without addon hardware devices anythign with a transponder wont work unless it submits to some website where you can track it online and then use maps and get the coordinates or somethign from the site.
