Is it necessary? I would have been all over this for my old Windows Mobile device but not my Android.

Yes necessary. One time I wasn't receiving any texts, including tests from my old cell, online sites and my friends phone. Did a soft reset and I could receive texts again. A soft reset once a day would make me feel A LOT better abouit not having this happen again.

The feeling of having done a 'reboot' feels good doesn't it? It must be a long time Windows user's habit. Reset your memory, fresh task manager/OS. Yea soft reboot is nice, I like thought of having a 'fresh'/'untempered' state on my G1 too, especially when more and more apps are being downloaded and used.

Soft boot, yes please.

Even a reboot icon would be nice. We have a Turn off icon but nothing automatic. I think it helps to reboot the G1.
