Default Enabled Flash to get Android one step ahead of everyone else...

If Google finds a way to get silverlight or adobe or whatever manufacturer...
to enable flash websites to work properly on android smart-phones... It will be the first True-internet browser phone in the market today... That will set the android apart from I-phone... that will raise the bar even the Steve"The Strangler" Jobs can't compete with...
I read an Article recently that Apple was forced to remove adds that say that Iphone is an "internet ready" phone... when in actuality they can't because they can't use flash... (Their rebuttal was "But Iphone can get to any website"... and they said "but it can't use them!!!" LOL!!!)
So I really do believe... if android can do this... they are one step ahead of their biggest competitor... and the next I-phone I can guarantee it will be one of the "Key Points" for people to re-buy a products they already have... I like apple don't get me wrong... I don't like making Apple juice... Just I really do believe it's a key point that Android OS can really take advantage of, especially because of it's open source system.

Eh? I thought the iPhone did utilize Flash.

Adobe has since the spring opened up the source of Flash up so more folks can try incorporating it into whatever. Would be nice if someone was at least letting us know what's going on with that... even better to get a sign of when that's finished. Because to my understanding it's not a question of "if" but "when" and the sooner a developer or Google can address that the more at ease we'll all be.
Spring is upon us! Woo hoo!!

Iphone doesn't have flash enabled yet. Jobs decided "it wasn't up to their standards". It was even made by Adobe themselves. The problem is that the Iphones processor can't handle flash. It would cause such a slow down that they said they "It isn't up to their standards" and wont allow it to run... when in actuality its the phone that is under par... (Apple purposely underclocks it's phone to increase battery life and reduce heat. It may be possible to handle the flash but no at the cost of a 3rd degree burn)
I've been following the tech news for sometime now.. and apple just made a couple deals with ARM the main processor company for their Iphone... so I believe they are developing a processor to handle the flash requirments... now... thats why I know the next Iphone will have flash... and to beat them to the punch... Android has to enable flash first to get a step ahead of the market. (It will deflate the rising balloon that is iphone... and allow Android to soar... )
the nice thing about android is that once this application is capable of doing so... not only will any android based phone be able to use it but many phone manufacturing companies can now will all have that same edge over Apple... Giving them that... burn... they've been wanting to return for sometime now.. ever since the Iphone changed the market... and caused a decreased market share...

I guess that explains why Apple is so hell bent on releasing another iPhone with a "faster" chip and better memory.

    LoL. Very interesting.

Neither Flash nor Silverlight are open source.

The fact that Android is open source would be a potential barrier for including Flash support in the OS proper because all of Adobe/Microsoft's competitors would have access to how Flash works (insofar as it integrates with the browser). Thusly it would have to be supplied as a closed-source addition and not in the Android source tree at all. So much for the benefits of being open source.

Personally, if Apple or Google end up supporting Flash, I hope they provide a way to disable it. As I've said elsewhere, I have no need (or want) for Flash on my phone and rather enjoy its inability to display Flash things, which seem to be limited to silly timewasters, wrappers around audio/video, or ads.

edit: people should quit bumping 6-month old threads.

Symbian S60 already does have flash, and if I think some browsers on WinMo might even have flash.

So... there already are "true internet browsers" on mobile phones. And I won't be the first to say that flash on a tiny, phone-sized screen and running on a phone's processor isn't all that great. You can hardly do anything with it. Don't even think about playing flash games on it.
