Well, there is one application already on the iphone and blackberries if i'm not mistaken, but it would be really helpful if there is one being made for the G1 and it has an offline mode also.
I always have to verify meds and sometimes it is such a hassle to find a free terminal to log on and punch in those tiny letters and numbers.
it would be neat maybe to even just to scan the med and have it look it up on the phone! =)
Would be nice for the Nurses and Doctors on the board!![]()
haha yup! forgot to add it would be great for doctors and nurses. meds come up and show drug interactions, half-life, contraindications...etc...
i would pay for something like that! =)
Most of my fellow docs at the medical center where I practice use Epocrates but I have been reluctant to download it to my 4 year old T-Mobile HP iPAQ h6315, one of the first "converged" phones, because of my concern about limited storage space. Now that I am about to receive my T-Mobile HTC G1, it would be great if I could become a part of 21st century medicine and finally use Epocrates.
I checked out the Epocrates website and did a search on Android but there were no "hits". Also, the site has a form for client service issues but I could not find an email address to send Epocrates a request to support Android.
Any ideas about the most effective way of encouraging Epocrates to support the Android OS?

I sent them an email and they said, "thanks for suggesting this new feature". I don't know that they have an idea of what Android is.
I guess the only way to encourage them to support android is to send them emails like mcolvin. let them know there's demand.
Links to where you all got yours? Anyone know if theres a free medical dictionary download for smart phones?
LOL yea I can use one of these. Im actually waiting for its release. Im using Micromedex in the mean time.
Exactly! This post is near the top of the Google search for "Android Epocrates". So anyone reading this, send them an email with the subject "Android Operating System". You can send to goldsupport@epocrates.com . The appropriate channel is probably to go to their contacts page, and fill out the form as a smart phone user.
Here was the response they gave me, it seems now they know what Android is.
"Thank you for contacting Epocrates.
At this time we do not have an application which will download and install onto the Google Android phone. If you have a data plan with your carrier, you may view Epocrates information using the phone’s web browser by visiting the following web address.
http://m.epocrates.com
We do not have information available about future product releases at this time. Please continue to check our website for updates.
Please let us know how we may assist you in the future."
They did a great job with the iPhone interface, now I'm sure they'll step up and crank out an Android version. We have to let them know there is a demand.
(though they still don't have the ability to input weight on a certain drug screen, and have it kick out a pediatric dose, you have to fill out all the data yourself...but that's a different forum)
