Yeah, if there was epocrates for android by the time i start intern year next summer it would be sweet. I imagine android will be a small niche (compared to palm, winOS, or iPhone) so epocrates may not feel an impetus to work on it unless people actively ask them about it.
I've been doing some research on this topic since I use this heavily as a pharmacist on my WM phone. Now I am carrying 2 devices until something comes out from epocrates. I also get micromedex on my wm phone from my Hospital. There are also programs such as mobipocket which is like a bookreader that you can download books on to it.
I just spoke to them, which I encourage you to do too. The support person told me if there is a demand for it, they will develop it. I then gave her my epocrates registered email, and she submitted a request to the development team on my behalf. 1-800-230-2150 option 1 should work.
She also said that they still only have the free version available for iPhones, and that they are slated to release ePoc pro in Jan 2009. My take is, the developers will be busy with the iphone until then, since that could actually make some income. (though I wonder if most of their revenue comes from big Pharma).
As an aside, I also submitted a request to skyscape to encourage software developers to make more for the Android platform. Here's their form...

Here's skyscape's (Quick!) response:
I would like to inform you that our engineering team is working to make our products compatible with the Android Platform and as soon as it releases it will be posted on our website.
At least they are acknowledging it. Make the requests, it might light a fire, maybe they'll hire a few more developers.
definitely need some pharm apps. micromedics would be awesome

Hmm, I've never used skyscape before. Only epocrates on my rinky-dink palm PDA. It it mainly for medical reference texts or does it also have a pharm application comparable to epocrates?
Btw, good call on contacting these companies NotSean.
I use Epocrates Pro (for the ID section), Sanford Guide, and Clinical Xpert (formerly Mobile Micromedex). I use them all on a Palm Centro and they work great. Between the three I can get 95 percent of what I need without going to the internet. I too have sent emails to Epocrates and received the same reply that a previous poster received. I love my Centro, but the G1 is a better device.
I don't like carrying two phones so I just switch the SIM card back and forth, and for now that works, but I really hope these programs get ported.
What would be really cool would be an Uptodate.com app like they have done for wikipedia. That would be sweet.
"You can't fight in here! This is the war room!"
we want epocrates too
i know so many healthcare providers that haven't gotten the G! or tmboile because epocrates is not available
it is really a limitation

I started a petition, hopefully we can get enough people to sign it and show Epocrates (and google) that they should get something developed.
I am a nursing student and would love some kind of medical app for my G1... if anyone finds one out there available, that would be great. Hopefully Epocrates will be available soon!
