Gmail Tasks
I just noticed that Gmail now has Tasks to enter and manage.
should i assume there is no app/widget that can sync these to the G1?
while i'm dreaming, can these sync to Outlook?

No widget as of yet but you can always make a shortcut on your homescreen. Thats what I did.

for the time being you can access the task by: http://gmail.com/tasks.
no widget, app, or sync to outlook yet.

If I could sync Outlook tasks to Gmail, I think my head would asplode.
