Default Mid call screen turn on

I'm not sure if anything like this exists, I've tried searching but didn't come up with anything.

During a call, if I need to look at my screen for whatever reason (check call duration, press numbers on keypad etc), I need to manually press the home button which can be annoying if in a rush. Would it be possible to have an app that uses the Gsensor to turn the screen on during a call when the phone is brought down? I'm not talking about any of these 'shake to wake' apps, but something that would turn on only if the phone is horizontal. The shake apps can activate unnecessarily.

It would work similar to what the iphone does, which uses a light sensor instead, but the same concept

    Thanks

If you were rooted with Cyanogens roms you would have that option. The rooting process isn't that bad it just seems intimidating at first but you will have alot of help from this community.
    HTC Sensation - Rooted
    Motorola Xoom - WiFi - Rooted - Moray 2.2.2
