I find it rather annoying that there are no persistent notifications on this phone (HTC Magic). For instance, if you miss a call or a text, you receive the initial notification, and an entry is made in the notification bar, but that is it. It won't ring every 5min or whatever to let you know that you are missing something.
I have seen several apps that attempt to address this, but none that can cover all notifications. For instance, Missed Call seems to be popular, and though the developer has made quite a bit of effort to support most functions, it still can't do simple things like Gmail notifications. All the apps out there seem to be able to do Calls/SMS/MMS and I give props to Missed Call for handling the more obsqure things like BT and Battery life, but it still doesn't cover everything.
The whole reason I have this phone, is so I can stay connected at all times. I'm finding that dificult because sometimes I will get a IM and not even know it for quite some time untill I check the phone.
i remember an app being able to do this, and you could set it to how many minutes you wanted it to notify you.. i forget what it was though.

I like how I only get one ping per notification.
Google Chrome OS??
If you do remember the app, please let me know. If anyone knows of an app like this it would be awesome to hear from you.
To any developer that wants to pick this up, I think it is a good idea and I know I would pay for it. Every cheap phone you buy these days has this feature for calls and SMS, too bad Android didn't think this way with theirs.
try the missed call app http://www.androidtapp.com/missed-call/
or look for SMS Popup

Yeah, I mentioned Missed Call in my original post. The problem is none of those apps will notify you of notifications in your notification bar. They just check predetermined programs to see if they have notifications. Don't know if you follow, but basically I have yet to see a program that can continuously notify me of emails and system alerts.
I don't understand what you're after.
If I receive a message via google talk, or get an email, or an SMS - the notification stays in the notification bar until I clear notifications or read the message.
