Onscreen Voicemail/Notification when Screen is "Off/Locked"

An onscreen blinking graphic to represent an awaiting notification, when the phone is locked. That LED on the top of the phone is a little hard to see from across the room...

If you don't have a sidekick maybe you can b uy one and use the lit trackball. Then, if you did that you just might tap the sidekick's screen and realize that it isn't a touchscreen. Or you might go into the phone and see that there isn't any nifty apps to download. See where I'm going with this ?. G1 is a G1, Sidekick is a Sidekick. It's already bad that people in the street think I'm using one. I don't want it to look exactly like it.
