    Talking Remote Control

I know this isn't a new idea but I have some, maybe, new information. I know the G1 lacks IR hardware but just a few minutes ago I was sitting at my computer with the phone next to my USB IR reciever and got a text and then a call about 30 seconds later. I wasn't watching TV at the time but noticed the IR reciever blinking as if I was pressing buttons on the remote. I thought maybe I was hitting the remote but looked and saw it was by my bed about 5 feet away. Then I thought maybe it was residual or some kind of function of the remote so I took the batteries out and told my girl to call me... low and behold the IR reciever went crazy. You think there might be a way to use the phones hardware to emulate the IR signals? There has to be some way to utilize this...
