Someone PLEASE make a on-screen keyboard for one handed use

Now I see why I've never liked sidekicks and phones of it's ilk. I love everything else about the G1 but having to open the phone to send a quick text message is aweful. Especially if you're doing something with your other hand (say driving! ). We need an on-screen SureType like keyboard that can be used with one hand!!

I would prefer 2 letters per key (SureType) but even a basic format like this would be a HUGE help:

agree im leaving my iphone behind and got so used to one hand typing hopefully when i get mines on wed eventually they will make a on screen keyboard similar to the iphones

Yeah exactly! & having a sidekick was cool like 5 years ago... Now its like carrying around a PSP that makes calls. W/ a corny flip up screen of course.

coming from a tmo wing, im pretty much used to the slide out keyboard, plus its like you can type much faster with a full keyboard. I have used on screen keyboards before but the predictive typing usually likes to change what your typing too much and you end up having to correct it yourself. but its still a nice option to have for one handed operation...
Oh yeah Texting while driving is not too safe... I do it but i can do several things while driving and still drive with near perfection.. theres alot of folks who cant even chew gum while driving

That's what I love about my Treo. I can type and do everything with one hand because the keyboard is small enough. Def comes in handy when driving and cant find the bluetooth to make a call. In CA, you have to utilize hands free driving.
