They both look like they do the same thing..Grand Central and Youmail... so far looks like more people here use Youmail. I have never used either so I will watch the thread and see who comes out the winner!! LOL

From my understanding of the iPhone, it lets you see who each voice mail is from before you listen to them and listen to them in any order...say you have 10 voice mails and you just got a new one from someone you were waiting to hear back from...instead of having to sit through the other 10 voice mails, you can see who each voice mail was left by and select only the one you want to listen to...it seems like a neat feature, especially if you never clean out your voice mail box

Bart - How do they taste, Ralph? Good?
Ralph - They taste like...BURNING!
I have a grandcentral account, but I really haven't used it that much. It's really cool and all, but I don't like having to press 1 to answer the phone.

I thought about an app that goes like this:
1. Get ringtime info from network
2. Let phone ring to (ringtime - 5s) in case of lag
3. Answer call, play message (can be different according to the caller)
4. Record the message to the phone
Of course, this would only work if the phone actually had service. Youmail would be the easier option.
Visual Voicemail would be great on the G1! I am also curious to see how big the picture for a phonebook entry shows up when they call on the G1. I am hoping it is like the iPhone where the picture fills up the whole screen in the background.

it would be good if the G1 did have visual voicemail - then the Iphone can be demolished and smashed in the streets... lol..

for those of you recommending grand central, do you have (or do they still give out) any invites? Because for the time being they'll reserve a number and get back to you. I reserved a number many many months ago and have heard nothing.
I am experiencing the same issue with Grand Central. Does anyone know what we can do about it? I tried to use youmail but that service doesn't work too well for tmobile users, according to them.
I think that it is a great idea and would like to be able to use either one of these services but so far unable to. Does anyone know of any other services like these?
