Where Are All The REAL Games?

Ok- Android is a great platform and all dont get me wrong, but I've noticed that it lags behind the Iphone and Ipodtouch as far as actual 3rd party licensed games go. The only real games I've seen are pacman and doom. Are they going to start porting over games to the android platform? Or is it just incapable of the graphics power needed for most games?

Have you checked out JewelLust, Hyperspace, Labyrinth (ported from iPhone, and exactly the same)?

I think that, with the limited space for apps on the G1, it could be that developers were unwilling to develop 4, 5mb games. Now, with new devices with much more space to store apps, along with an influx of new Android users to build up the market and increase potential buyers, I'd expect we'll start to see more and more advanced games for the device.

Time will tell.

(JewelLust is a really nicely designed game, great game play, effects, etc. It's right up there with Bejeweled, maybe even better)

Yeah when the market has the top 3 games as Pacman, Solitare, and Labyrinth you have a problem. There arent many devs making solid games for the G1. The iphone is just on a different level when it comes to hardware and memory. I wish we had some games like the Iphone but it just won't happen. Don't expect the G1 to ever have games like the Iphone cuz it won't happen unfortunately.

G1 was the very first Android device. Many people wanted to see what kind of potential/future Android had. Obviously with all the new Android handsets coming out, it's proven itself. Developers will not ignore the platform, in fact they cannot. They'll come...watch.

Pac Man is a very strange bird!

I downloaded it, and it works fine on my G1.

However, tried to download it to my myTouch, and I get a message "Download Failed"..

Tried backing it up to a memory card, and installing from the card, and AGAIN it failed.

I've now heard that the FREE Pac Man is for G1 owners ONLY, and that there is a paid version, for $5.99, for all other Android phone owners!

Forget that! No way would I pay $6 for Pac Man...
