Default Why is there no Profile Manager?

One app that I really miss from Windows Mobile is a good profile manager like CommMgrPro (see http://www.commmgrpro.com/). With it, you can change your ringtone, volume, vibrate, screen brightness, GPS, WiFi, 2G/3G band selection (or even turn the GSM radio off), launch and kill apps and, well, a whole lot of other things. You do this by creating "profiles" and then changing from one profile to another manually, by the clock, by entries in your calendar (e.g. automatically invoke the Meeting profile when your schedule shows you have one) or by location (GPS or cell). Each item the profile changes has 2 entries: how it should change when the profile is invoked (e.g. volume to 20%) and how it should change when the profile is exited (e.g. restore volume to its previous value).

I've tried Power Manager and the new application called "ear". Either of them could grow into something like CMP but, for now, neither are on that path. Does anyone know of another app or if anyone is working on something like this?

Locale is close, http://www.androidlocale.com/, but nothing yet to do it all.

Tired of manually adjust your phone's ringer mode/volume everyday?
For example, adjust ringer to vibrate or silent when arrive at office/classroom/library to avoid disturbing phone rings, and adjust ringer back to normal after leave those places to avoid missing calls.
Afraid of not setting the ringer properly and check it several times a day?

Say goodbye to the hassle and embarrassment now! Let Smarter Profiles automatically switch your predefined phone profiles for you based on your predefined profile triggering rules.

A profile is consisted of a set of triggering rules and settings.

    Triggering rules:
    - Wi-Fi network(s) detected
    - Day of week
    - Time of day

    Settings:
    - Ringer mode [Normal, Vibrate, Silent]
    - Ringer volume
    - Notification volume
    - System volume
    - Alarm volume
    - Media volume
    - Voice call volume

Profiles are prioritized based on triggering rules' specificity to provide an intuitive and convenient way for solving conflicts. When conditions (location/time) meet two or more profiles' triggering rules, the one that has the highest priority will be selected.

A profile's priority is determined by:
    - Number of Wi-Fi network(s) (more Wi-Fi => more specific => higher priority)
    - Number of days of week (less days => more specific => higher priority)
    - Time span of day (less time => more specific => higher priority)

For example, a profile that specifies 2 Wi-Fi networks, effective 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday, is more specific than another one that does not specify Wi-Fi networks, and is effective at all times (12:00 AM - 11:59 PM, Sunday through Saturday).

By default, the display order of the defined profiles is based on their priorities, so that you can conveniently have a general idea of how they will be applied when there are some overlaps of triggering rules.

You can always create general "back up" profiles to let Smarter Profiles take care of your Ringer and Volume related settings anytime anywhere.
For example, a profile that doesn't specify Wi-Fi network(s), effective every day of week (Su Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa), and from 8:00 AM to 11:59 PM will take care of general daytime Ringer and Volume settings, and another one with similar rules for the nighttime.
When no other more specific profiles (e.g. location related such as "Office", "School", etc.) are detected, these least specific profiles will always be there to ensure proper ringer settings defined by you.

Smarter Profiles is simple and easy, essential for your everyday practical needs but not overwhelm you by the daunting long list of settings. Why not use it to make your life just a bit easier?
