Is there a case out there that protects the screen as well as the rest of the phone?

You might have to spend some. I have this one and it's really pretty great:

It has a few little imperfections like the fact that the edge of the screen cover isn't flush with the rest of the phone on mine, but that's a really nit picky thing. You also have to get used to tapping a little harder on the screen because of the plastic protector, but I adjusted pretty quickly. It's a really solid case that I'd definitely recommend to anyone with a G1.
