Is anyone else having the issue of the stock music player not recognizing artists or album titles, and even worse, including the track number (01, 04, etc...) as part of the title, making it victually impossible to browse tracks alphabetically?

Different one entirely. So far, not thinking this phone is worth 449.00.
Called Samsung, got an ridiculously unhelpful tech, who stated she couldn't find any way to disable the notification on the stock messaging client.
Pondering a return.

Are you sure it isnt how the songs are tagged?

I had the same problem.
My songs were tagged by iTunes with ID3v2.3 and the player didn't read the album/song/artist name.
I installed MP3Tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/), then I selected all my songs and I noticed that the ID3 tag version was 2.3.
I saved the tags (without doing any change), and MP3tag save them as ID3v1 & ID3v2.3.
Now the Behold 2 can read artist/song/albums name.
Probably you can save ID3 tag to an early version with iTunes, but I'm not sure which one is the minimum supported version.
