My Samsung Galaxy S 9000i gives an error when it syncs with the Google Calendar in my gmail. The error on the phone is:
"proces Com.Android. Calendar is stopped unexpectedly."
The Phone syncs my contacts and gmail perfectly.
I went back to the shop and they replaced the handset, but the new handset had the same error.
I returned the phone to the store because I cannot work without my Calendar synced.
Anyone had this problem or even better, knows a fix?
As soon as there is a fix I will buy it again because it is a great phone.
The error basically means the Calendar process is taking longer than expected to do its thing. Do you have a "Force Close" button appear after the errro? Or do you have a choice to "Wait"? If you have a choice, keep hitting Wait. It may just be taking a long time to download your calendar for the first time, especially if there's lots of stuff in it.
If you don't have the option, it means it's crashed. This could be due to weird data in your Calendar. Does it crash if you use a different Google account? If not, then it must be some entry in your Calendar that it doesn't like, and my only idea is to clean it up.
This sounds kind of similar. Alas, no answer though: http://www.samsunggalaxysforum.com/s...n-my-galaxy-s/
Aha, maybe this is the answer: http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=uk
Like I said, something in the Calendar data itself.
Extorian,
This sounds very much like the answer.
What I will do is go back to the Vodafone shop and get my Galaxy back. I returned it because no one there (even the Samsung tech who was there) could solve my problem and without a calendar sync, the phone is useless to me.
I had to give it back because it was the last possible day. After that they could not take it back.
Thank you very much and I will let you know if this solution works for me as well.
One more question. Did you remove all the recurring itrems that started in the past or did you remove all the recurring items period.
I haven't had the problem, and I don't have an SGS (yet) so I haven't tried it. The guy on the other forum seems to imply that the problem was recurring events that have a start date in the past.
I'm not sure if he removed them all and recreated them to start from their next recurrence date, or if he just removed them and left them removed.
Either way, the way to test this is to remove all recurring items and see if the calendar then syncs OK, then add them back a few at a time online and make the phone re-sync to make sure it's not going to break again.
Please do let us know if this fixed it for you. I'll be probably getting an SGS soon and I rely on my Calendar heavily.
Extorian,
I changed the starting dates of all my recurring events to 2010.
In the notes I write what year.
Since I have done that, the Galaxy updates perfect.
Thank you very much.
Brilliant - that's good news. And thanks for coming back to tell us. I might need to use this trick myself in a few days.
