From what I understand, the gMail app on the G1 phone works much more reliably than the POP/IMAP email app (so far as getting email notifications). The obvious potential solution would be to have my POP and IMAP email accounts forward email to my main gMail account.
Question: Is there a way to have the gMail app sort, tag, or group the incoming forwarded emails? For example, if I forwarded my comcast.net email to my main gMail account, can I have the gMail app on the G1 phone categorize it as "Comcast" so I can easily filter my emails by category?
That would be a big help to me if it is possible.
Thanks,

No, you wouldn't want to forward emails there. In the other thread (between you and me, mostly LOL), I went through the instructions of how to have GMail check and sort your other accounts. It's probably better to let Gmail do this, because it will be more transparent, and you can set up rules for how it deals with those emails.

Post #17 in our other thread about notifications
If you set up GMail to check your other accounts, it can label them (and the labels work beautifully on the phone, BTW) and push them to you. PERFECT push notifications. BTW, in your other thread, I just posted the results of all my tests...very interesting results.
GOOD results.

Thanks for your responses to my email questions. It's much appreciated.
I'll check out gmail further to see if I can get the label stuff working for my email accounts. Thanks again.
