I know that the G1 has an accelerometer but does it switch the browser from portrait to landscape? Every video i have watch shows me that it is switched to landscape once the keyboard is opened, i have seen nothing that would lead me to believe that the accelerometer controls that aspect of the phone in the browser. If it doesnt that would piss me off personally....any thoughts?

i was wondering that too
but im sure if its not built in then that would be one of the first apps b.c i know it said something about you being able to change it but i assume you change it like you used to have to in windows mobile phones without an accelerometer
I think there was a video that it did work without opening the keyboard....
i believe it was an engadget video on viddler

Here's a video of a video being played through the browser and it is switching the view without opening the keyboard. It doesn't say whether or not it would change while viewing the page, but obviously it's possible for the orientation to change without the keyboard opening.

If you haven't watched those videos, they're pretty awesome. Lots of cool things you can do with Android.

I have seen it do it I just don't know the location of the video. I think this question has been posted here before and the answer is somewhere in one of these threads.
AngieToo lazy to actually put something here!
I saw the engadget video in question, but can't find it now. It demonstrated that the free video player available in the app store will reorient using the accelerometer. However, to get into landscape mode on the browser, you do have to reveal the keyboard, it is not accelerometer based...which is sort of lame.
The answer is that it is totally dependent upon the application.
