GPS and Local search FTW!
its no surprise, many gps navigation systems in cars are built off of linux, not windows...
you'll notice that "sync" is the first official microsoft dubbed car system
I am a salesmanager for a Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Nissan dealership, SYNC just really hit the market(nice feature) , i don't think you can really invision Android any time soon, hell, we are still teaching salespeople, how to pair bluetooth in cars, and use the touchscreen NAV, not to mention the whole Sirius/XM thing!!! I have been doing this for 16 years, we don't talk about power windows and cruise control anymore, these will be the new features of the future, even in a slow moving auto industry.
i think what would be cool is if we could like hook our g1's to the car like how you would hook up an iphone or ipod to listen to music.
its like how all new cars have a wire already connected and preinstalled and all you need to do is hook up the usb and listen to music!
And the one they're to be using in Chryslers soon is an O/S called "QNX" (IIRC) that is based on Linux...
People WANT open platforms and solutions, they just don't realize it. I know that sounds dumb, but think about it... what people want, as an end result, is better achieved with openness on the back-end.

impressed me!
I'm reminded here of the RJ-45 connector on the back of my factory Dodge Daytona radio. I'm told it was there to connect a "visor phone" that was basically a phone in the driver's visor and it operated on a speakerphone level. Setting up Bluetooth speakerphone with a radio should be a no-brainer.

I agree - it's gonna be BIIIG!!! When Google was starting its life lots of ppl said: hey there is some plain boring search engine... yes there is - the same search engine that revolutionized from nothing to the top in only 10 years. Mobile phones - I give mobile industry 4-5 years and we should expect much more... Even beyond our thinking outside of the box![]()
