Android v iPhone. is this going to be the mac V PC wars all over again?

Just in the last few days since the G1's release I have seen so much bickering on various forums and blogs between fans of the iPhone and of the G1/Android. It reminds me so much of the Mac V PC flamewars that have been raging now for decades. Strangely I don't think I have seen much iphone v Widows Mobile agro, so I wonder, why all this noise all of a sudden?

The way I see it, Windows Mobile never stood a chance against the level of innovation iPhone user interface brought into the mobile world. And after the v2.0 release which is much friendlier to the corporate world, WinMo is way further behind iPhone in case of user interface.

Another reason could be that WinMo does not have that strong of a fan following like Apple does. Microsoft product users just live through it and none of their products provides an exciting experience as Apple's do. Although, Linux and Google, both have great fan bases. Android brings both of them together. And, the level of innovation that Android brings into the market, iPhone fanboys feel threatened now.

So, to summarize. Flame wars break out whenever Apple fanboys feel threatened.

LOL - PCTechNerd, that's just wrong. I believe that there's plenty of room for both platform to exist. Android / G1 is really the first true competitor to the iPhone 3G / iPhone OS X. Cutting right through to the core features, both run on linux, sport capacitive touch, iPhone has multi-touch while Android has the potential for multi-touch, tons of cool apps, and most importantly, both platforms are backed by BIG players in the biz (Apple and Google).

Yea, but as pompous as Iphone users (and apple users as a whole) are, we need something that will sting a little. Nothing like Andy the android relieving himself on the shiniest toilet I've ever seen.

Vincent makes a good point. All the android flaming and iphone comparison is because apple fans see android as a threat. The other phones that came out in iphones wake were pretty obvious 'iphoneys'. kinda like the iphone but not nearly as cool. nobody was allover the LG dare like this or any of the other ones that came out. this one is a real challenger so they have to try to rip on it. makes them feel better about dropping $2000 on a phone (with the data plan, thats roughly how much you pay in the end, G1 will probably be about $1100, a much better deal, IMO)

I have the psd if anyone wants it. i'm going to spend more time on it later and make it look better. it's kinda fubar'd right now (i'm very analytical about my work).
