    Default Any good new stuff?

Haven't been following android updates and news for a few months. Any new system updates and/or must have sweet apps out? I just wiped and updated to JF 1.51 US via the JF updater I've had. Now I keep getting asked to download the official 1.5. Why does it do that if it knows that I already got 1.51? Also, when I go to settings>about, it says that I'm on 1.5. Mistake or what? JF updater no longer shows any updates available which means that the update went fine.

cyanogens roms are awesome . extremely fast , stable , and feature rich !

Before I go on to look at that wonderland of roms, I checked out cyanogen's post on the xda just a few minutes ago and read that he optimizes the phone to go a little faster than standard and any damage due to this or due to the use of his roms isn't his responsibility. That doesn't really entice me to go ahead and install it because I want to keep my phone nice and alive. Besides, I'm totally not into all those ahome themes and all that eye candy crap. I need my phone to funciton flawlessly like a normal phone primarily, and then to be able to use some of the sweet apps on it. So basically I don't want a rom that just makes things look prettier.

his builds are not eye candy . they are highly optimized for everyday use . i would say its by far the best rom for everyday . even better than stock and jf . im sure some others will chime in and agree with me .
those are just his cautions . to many people were complaining about issues that arent caused by his rom . plus , sometimes anything can happen . but , really , its VERY stable

How do you choose? Well... I'd just flash and see. Try one of the more basic and stable ROM's first, and work your way up as you become more experienced. Also get your nandroid ready...

    oh , yea . i highly recommend installing cyanogens recovery 1.4 . did i say highly ???
i mean , it would be stupid not to install it . it will only save you time and help out in times of need . plus nandroid backup/restore from it !

when jf made 1.51 he forgot to remove the OTA updater, so that means you will still get OTA update prompts BUT you will not be able to update (i dont remember exactly why)

but my suggestion is any of cyan builds + cyans recovery

I would recommend Cyan to anyone with a rooted phone. It's the fastest and most updated of all the builds. Cyan is amazing, the guy releases new builds nearly every day. Highly recommended to anyone that want a responsive phone that just works!
