With all the different developers writing codes and pushing users to download various apps across the internet, is anyone here worried about hidden viruses, trojans, spyware, data loggers to be downloaded onto our phones? If the open source really is basically a computer, then our phones will now be just as vulnerable as our computers.
How about an antivirus app?

Good question, that was my first thought when I heard of this open source thingy..

This already been talked about.
Many times actually.
Android OS is based on Linux OS. The way Linux was made, there's very little virus for it.
If they program Android properly, you don't have to worry about spyware either.
I'd be more worried about a trojan.

Worse case scenario, Reflash... Need program to make complete os backup.
Android S/W updates?
Maybe a job for ClamAV, but mostly it would just need a good firewall for detecting malware. Greatest threat would be from email.
Yes, I do anticipate the much needed viruses/worm/spam to appear in a number of attempts.. but, it can only help expose flaws.
If I helped,

luckily the only people really hating on this phone are the trendy mac people...i'm hoping/assuming they wouldn't know how to create and execute any kind of attack.
Do you worry about them on your PC?
I've never installed an anti-virus and have never had a virus after using a PC for over a decade. If you are careful about what you download it isn't really a concern. I'm not saying you shouldn't worry, you should always be cautious, but it's nothing I would stress about.
I knew it was talked about before... here's the link...

Also I am getting suspicious about the original poster and the replies I am seeing here. I noticed they have less than 20 posts here. (tphang1, GrimShadows, Lukster)
I think they are here to scare people. Maybe they are iPhone fans...
If that's what you guys are doing, it's not working. This is the Android Community and we are getting the G1!![]()
i wont be giving it much thought, the OS as stated above is base on linux 2.6 kernel. linux like Mac's are both based on unix, were talking military grade OS. anyway you dont see many mac owners worrying about viruses and spyware etc. in fact after switching to a mac a year and a half ago i dont run any protection on my machine. so not to get off track here, no i wont be worrying about anything like that, i will just be enjoying my G1.
