Thread: Are there plans to release an Android phone on another carrier anytime soon?

Default Are there plans to release an Android phone on another carrier anytime soon?

I'm on both Verizon and AT&T. One is a work line and one is a personal. I had an iphone back when they first launched and have since gotten rid of it. I have gone through many iphone competitors but nothing came close what the iphone provided.

The G1 seems like it has exceeded many facets of the iphone and would love to get my hands on one. Are they planning on releasing it to any other carriers anytime soon?

Besides from T-mobile, Sprint is likely to be the next carrier to have an Android phone, since they are on the OHA. Verizon seems to be kind of interested but they are holding back until they are sure there is significant consumer interest for the phones. Originally the claim was there will be phones from samsung & lg early next year, but lately there is a rumor it will be Q3 next year at the earliest, though that rumor has not been confirmed by either company.

I'm on AT&T too and I am waiting for an Android phone, but I'm not banking on AT&T releasing one anytime soon given they have the iPhone. I'm hoping for an GSM Android phone with at least triband 3g like the Iphone 3g has so I can get 3g on AT&T. Too bad the g1 is not compatible with AT&T's 3g or I probably would have gone with the g1.

The G1 is only set for T-Mobile right now, however Sprint will be carrying an Android phone by the end of the year. We don't know any details about the phone yet though.

the G1 specifically was designed for t-mobile only... so the answer to your question in the thread is no, no other company will have it... will they have android phones? yes, i'm guessing all the carriers will eventually, thats how much faith i have in google...
Buy the rumor, Sell the news.

What do you guys think about ATT releasing an Android phone (I dont think they will anytime soon), would be very interesting to see how it effects and interacts with their golden iPhone.
