I don't get it is this that big of a deal to only have 1GB a month?
It's probably not going to be that big of a deal, people just like to complain a lot, and this is (so far) the biggest knock [next to the headphone jack.] But like it's been said many times, unless you're downloading torrents/p2p stuff, or watching youtube non-stop all day every day, you probably won't come anywhere NEAR that 1GB limit.
I wouldn't worry about it too much.

If you love viewing YouTube videos or planning on downloading a lot of media related things that can eat up your allowed data each month quick. I don't think I'll be THAT hardcore, but you never know. If more was needed I'd imagine T-Mobile would offer additional data plans.
EDIT: You beat me to it Audemars :P

I hope they increase the limit in the future.

I have over 3 gigs of apps on my phone without having too many. Its just watching videos on YouTube, programs that remotely control your PC, programs like ORB and other data intensive apps COULD push you over the edge. It is very possible especially when the apps are not controlled like with the app store to go over your limit. You have a whole month to do it.
How much data do you think g-maps typically uses? I could see that taking up a good bit of bandwith.

yeah but this all saying that you are doing this from the 3g network. if i have the chance to connect to a wifi spot i am going to do that instead of using slow 3g. i guess if you nothing but use the 3g network this might be an issue.
And fortunately, it auto-connects to WIFI when you're near an open access point.
1gb is really a good amount, people are blowing it out of proportion. If it proves to be "not enough" for the average consumer, I'm sure they'll increase it.
This is coming from someone that downloads 500+ gb a month...

I try to have Wi-Fi as often as possible but in reality I am not on my phone much when I am home other than text messaging and calls. Its when I am out and about that I use the data. Otherwise I just use my computer.
The other thing to note here is that the language doesn't say they WILL throttle you back. it says they CAN. Legal departments always reserve rights in contracts. They protect them from rampant abuse. Say, for instance, someone wrote an app that started the craze of everyone using their phones as wireless routers and dropping their home internet/business internet services, and suddenly T-Mobile was looking at 100GB/month averages per user (this is unrealistic and theoretical), they could legally put the kabash on that activity with throttling without facing lawsuits or claims based on people saying they "changed the terms". Our employee handbook is like this. We have so many policies that dictate how we can refuse to pay employees. --It's never happened once, but if every employee decided to take off the days surrounding every holiday, we have reserved the right not to pay for those days.
You just can't offer anything "unlimited" and not protect yourself from abuse. People WILL abuse you.![]()
