There may be another easier way, but you could wipe the phone (factory reset) and then reactivate it. The problem with that is that it deletes any apps that you've installed and you'd have to reinstall them all.
I've been searching but have found nothing...hoping someone can help.
I have an HTC Magic on Vodafone "activated" with my GMail account. My wife will be going a way for a few days soon and would like to use my Magic. She has a GMail account too.
How can I deactivate with my GMail account, and re-activate with hers? (so that her e-mail/contacts/calendar are present).
Thanks!

Back up your phone with My Back Up or My Back Up Pro then after a reset just restore the phone.
You can try this:
From Home
Menu
Settings
Applications
Manage Applications
Gmail
Clear data
Gmail Storage
Clear data
Repeat Gmail Steps with Your IM (Google Talk or IM, depending on build) accounts
Reboot phone

^ Just been doing more searching and found that answer out there too, thank you.
Do you know about clearing "Google Apps", lots of people seem to say just do this, but then others don't mention it.
Why on earth isn't this simple? Get it together Google!
I don't think you can fault Google for that. The phone isn't designed to be used with multiple Gmail accounts. It is designed to be synchronized with one account. If you give/sell the phone, it would make sense to do a factory reset beforehand. It might have been a slight inconvenience for you, but this doesn't appear to be a case of "dropping the ball" to me.

Maybe so. I still don't think it's too much to ask or expect that there should be a simple way of changing the Google account you sync your device with.
Define "simple."
I would say that the method I listed and wiping the phone with a factory reset, both flip the bill. I would assume that the reason these methods aren't highly touted is for consumer safety and security. The same reason Microsoft doesn't include the:
option in their manual. This isn't exactly something you'd want somebody playing the "What's this button do?" game with.Code:format c:

If it was simple to change your account you sync with there would be nothing dangerous about it.
Anyway, I'm not here to argue about what we each do and don't think should be a "feature".
I think I have it working. Will post back my exact process when I've confirmed it for anyone else that might have the same query in future.
