Considering buying, need feedback on possible functionality?

I had a customer show me an Android phone that he hacked with version 1.5 (Haruioko build?).

He showed me a function that I have been looking for in a phone for a very long time.

The ability to have google calendar and an exchange calender showup as a single calendar on a device.

I have two questions:

1. Will this calendaring feature be available on the new G2 phone that is coming out?
2. Can one unlock a G1/G2 phone to have it run on an AT&T network? (My existing phone is on AT&T.)
