yeah i saw that already... but that is the ADP version he was talking about... the one about to come out now is for everyone else.

he also said he was releasing that update that night... its been 2 days since then...

True but the US does not have the HTC Magic which runs 1.5 launching in the next few days.

The cupcake update puts the G1 back on a par (if not better, hardware qwerty and all) with the Magic.

i think one of two things will happen:

A: when official cupcake is released in the states jf and Haykuro will both have their own versions.

Band i hope its this one) they both work together to come out with one super version.

I hope its "B" too. Im just looking to have the build as stable as possible. I think i might be getting lazy or stressed from tinkering and wiping so much

Hey mate.

It could arrive tonight or any time in the next week or so...

They do it as a staged OTA update. Otherwise, 3.5gig over the 3G network would not work to good.

EDIT: My bad, should that be 3.5TB? Epic maths fail :P

I'm in the UK, no update yet but I'm not sure I would with me having a JF mod?

Seems to me there is still going to be a good reason for JF and Haykuro to continue their projects.

JF seems to take the base T-mobile image and makes an easy upgrade from a rootable official image to a very well set-up rooted one. He bases his on the official update so you can run a rooted phone and still be highly compatible. He integrates *some* choice improvements but never anything too experimental.

Haykuro is blending the bleeding-edge development branch with the custom stuff to get android running on the G1.

When this new OTA starts landing, JF will (time-permitting) release it with his mods. In this case, it will be almost exactly like Haykuro's build but over time as google move from 1.5 to 2.0, I reckon there's scope for him ( and others ) to merge the newer stuff back into their builds.

Why is it soooo hard for Google, Tmobile, Htc, whoever, to give us a set date on the official release date of these updates? How difficult could that be? Do you think they read these forums and laugh at our frustrations and anxiety?

I have a ps3 and whenever sony is getting ready to release an update they usually announce the date of release. Even Microsoft does the same. Why cant Google do the same?

I know its difficult to confirm a release date when a software is in its early stage, but the official SDK is launched. So give us a date!!! The suspense is killing me.

FYI: I have root, I have the Magic ROM ported, but i impatiently waiting on Google official release.
