G1 doesnt alert me when i get an IM

my problem is the phone wont alert me when i receive an IM,works perfect for sms but not for AIM & MSN...when im using the phone or the screen is on i receive notifications of im's but if the screen times out or i press the end key the phone wont notify of im's at all.the instant i open the phone i get spammed with im's from friends who have been trying to communicate.

Does any1 else have this problem,is there a setting im missing? If you know can u pls tell me

it alrerts u only if ur not in the box that is coming to u
