Since Amazon is DRM free and Android does not have a desktop sync app, I was wondering what people use to organize their music on their computer? I use a Mac and I guess I could use iTunes, but I really would rather not. Any suggestions for an alternative? Ideally this app would have a built in feature to copy the music over to a designated device (the G1) but this is not critical, just would be nice.
On to the little thing I love; while playing with the phone today I noticed a very convenient feature that the iPhone and Windows mobile sorely lack. The trackball allowed me to scroll backwards to correct a mistake in a URL I was typing into the browser. I was able to go back to the precise spot in the URL and make the correction. On the iPhone this requires a tap and hold and then you use the magnifying glass to navigate back in text. On Windows Mobile you have to tap where you want the cursor to go with the stylus or use the microscopic cursor keys on the virtual keyboard (unless you are lucky and your device has a hardware keyboard with cursor keys-unlikely). I just thought it was so convenient and easy to position the cursor for a text correction using the scroll ball.
And this is the big thing, I cannot fathom why so many people are complaining about the keyboard, I thought it was brilliant. In 30 minutes I made one mistake on a single letter and this was the first hardware keyboard I ever used.
didnt read the whole post on this but i just put music on my g1 sd card (or connect it via usb and transfer music to it over the cable. but android recognized them pretty quick and sorted them, i think itunes will manage and copy music over to seperate directories as more low quality mp3 players require drag n drop. ony played with it a little on music but so far so good
people complain becuase theyve been using Sidekicks- which have had that trakball for a long time.. BUT it had nicer keys.. and even a nicer ball, really..
i just got my G1 and ive tryed to get music on it from my comp. but it dosent let me i did the whole usb and everything
but still nothing. What should I do>?<
Docprego: I use MediaMonkey to organize and sync my library. It's very much like iTunes (far more powerful, actually), and it can sync your G1 automatically just like iTunes syncs an iPod. I strongly recommend giving it a try.

Nothing wrong with windows media player...Alot faster and more comparable to other programs than iTunes will ever be. After having the iphone for years, it's a real treat to not have to deal with Apple's b.s. over different specialty file types and whatnot...
