Thread: G1 stuck on boot screen

Default G1 stuck on boot screen

I appear to have borked my G1. I'm rooted and using JF 1.51.

I was attempting to partition the sdcard using the apps2sd app available from XDA Devs/market but it didnt appear to work (got an error message saying it had failed and to visit the XDA forum). Anyway, i think the SD card is hosed as it was bringing up various messages when plugged into my pc and the G1 itself said the card was damaged. I rebooted once successfully and attempted to format the SD card but nothing seemed to happen and so rebooted again which is when it hangs on the boot screen.

I CAN access the recovery menu and the SPL screen. I've tried a wipe but it still hangs. Any suggestions???

Well did you try and flash a firmware lately or something? Apps2sd cant mess up your phone like that. I would suggest getting a new sd card and trying to flash your rom over again. Also gve it some time it may just be taking a while to boot and not actuallly stuck there.

If you have a card reader or another card you can put the rom on it and reflash. Go into the recovery console and reflash to rom, you might want to wipe first. As hondamx said apps2sd isn't going to do that. When I flashed the new cyan with dark hero it seemed like it took 10-15 minutes to boot.

I literally havent touched the phone with regards to modding since i installed the JF ROM when it was released. All i did was run the apps2sd app and reboot a couple of times. I've left it for 20 mins at the boot screen but nothing was happening.

I've got another SD card at home but no reader, is there any way to transfer files to the card when its in this state?

You can try this from your phone as long as have linda or astro file manager. This from konzern I read it a couple of weeks ago.

    1.download the file
2.find the file in your sd card using linda or astro.
3.if its not in the root your sd card long press it and press edit then cut
4.go to the root of your sd card and press menu>paste
5.rename the file "update" or "update.zip"

You realize he cant get past boot, hence the title of the thread lol. That means no linda or astro either.

Did you visit the XDA thread that the error message told you to? This happened to me when I did the apps2sd2. There is a set of instructions on that thread on what to do if the app didn't work or fouled things up.

Panic over, I've found a nandroid backup i did not long ago and its back to normal. I've picked up a card reader on the way home from work too just in case.

Changing the subject slightly, if i manage to get the card partitioned using the apps2sd app, is there anything else i need to do before flashing to the cyan mod?
