I have a question. When i use google talk, there is no audible notification of the message. Is there a setting or something that im not seeing to activate the ringtone.

yep, hit menu with it open and go to more under there is your options

hmm I 'm noticing that the phone is rather quiet also. even the vibrate. I rarely use ringtones, but if I can't get the vibrate to work either i will.

I'm thinking that there maybe a couple of different places to set the alerts, and perhaps one's taking precedence over another.

oh the learning curve, I'll let you know if I come across anything.

I just realized that my alarm produces no sound when it goes off wtf? There has got to be a setting to fix these notification issues...

Make sure you read up somewhere around here about that " no sound" issue, if the G1 is docked to the computer and SD card is mounted it may not make the sound.

Hello Kirrizzle,

I've been playing around with IM on the G1 phone, I had the same problem as you. No notifications no sounds no vibrate. What I noticed was, that if you opened the person's chat box ( so it takes up all the screen with the message entry box at the bottom of the page ) the notifications would work. If you were on the first page where the message entry box is at the top of the page, the notifications wouldn't work. Leave the full page message page and then press home. You will be still signed in. If messages arrive, you get notified. Give it a try and see if that works, and let me know !! Good Luck.
