How do you stop annoying SMS popups?

Hello all,

I hope I am posting this question in the correct forum.

When I first started using my G1, and I received an SMS message, I would hear a ringtone and see a message in the status bar. I could then jump into the Messaging app and engage in a conversation.

A few weeks ago, every time I receive an SMS message, I now receive a popup message. These popups appear no matter what I am doing, even when I'm in the messaging app.

I have tried to find a way to disable these, including doing all the obvious thigns, such as reset my Messaging prefs to their default, tweak Notifications, install an SMS popup manager -- all to no avail.

How do I disable the popups?

what messagin apps do u have?

Just go to the market click my downloads and see if you have any apps that do such a thing, maybe you're using a foreign messaging replacement like chomp or handsent and thats why you can't figure it out.
But as it stands I was thinking you have sms pop up but I wouldn't know you were a little vague as to what may be the cause.

But as it stands I think checking your history and what apps your using will help you most.

Well the default app doesnt have popups so you either have sms popup or handcent sms

I've noticed the VoiceText app also does this annoyingly by default, which sucks when you're in a call and your face hits to reply by voicetext. haha

Only the standard Messaging app that comes with the G1.

No, that's what odd about this. I have +no+ other SMS apps installed, other than what came with the G1.

I think I did have VoiceText installed at one point. I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

Just want to close the loop here. I found the problem. One of the messages in this thread tipped me off. It was the SMS popup feature of VoiceText. Disabled it, problem solved.

Didn't even realize that app had an SMS popup feature.
