are you talking about a wi-fi network? maybe one of your neighbors has an open wifi connection. thats the only thing i can think of.
Ok, heres a new one, why dose g1 think theres a hot spot in my house?! it just logged in to a hotspot, or so it said. i couldnt log out or anything. Well, im pretty sure id know if there was a hot spot around here, being ive been here a while and had t-mo a while... ya, um... any ideas?

A neighbor with an open network with the 'hotspot' naming scheme would be my guess...
You're using the hotspot locater app?
ya, but it would show up as wi-fi available, not a hot spot AND i was already connected to my own wi-fi all night. while connected to my wi-fi, it says "logging into hotspot"...?? really wierd. Anyone think i ought to see about an exchange? bad QC on the os maybe? gett better results with another one? had ALOT of issues so far.
do you live close to a cafe or something like that??
the locator app only tells you where they are, right? ya, i have it installed..but... plain old wi-fi isnt the same thing as a hot spot is it?
i live on base right now. far from civilian land. the closest wi-fi is at the PX a half mile away, but its aafees wi-fi far as i know.
ya it is, the only difference is a "hotspot" you can login to for free because of your data ftr. otherwise you may have to pay to be able to login to it. however... only starbucks, borders, captains lounges are typically "hotspots".
it had the hotspot notification and icon and all that. ive only ever seen that at official hotspots... the pink target popped up and said "logging into hot spot" not loggin into such and such network.. as if i had been AT starbucks. thats what weirded me out... the closest REAL hotspot is like 7 miles away.
maybe you got a phone on 'roids that can connect that far away to a wifi network.
