    Default Keyboard and Browsing

I found a quote on fortune.cnn.com that I meant to put up but completely forgot about it. One user who got an early trial of the HTC Android described the slide out keyboard as a little awkward for some typing tasks. The browsing quality however was “better than BlackBerry and close to the iPhone.”

This sounds good to me. I'm watching this G1 and Android roll-out closely. I've been waiting for a non-WM device with a touch screen and QWERTY.

Now that T-Mobile is in NC I may make a switch just for the G1.

I believe you got that information from the article you posted about earlier this morning: fortune.cnn.com. It's in the last paragraph.

I just hope the browser is as good as the one on my E61...the screen resolution better be the same or better as well.

As far as the keyboard is concerned...I can't see a problem unless the keys on the "chin" get in the way while trying to use the G1 with your right hand only. Maybe it is the way the function keys are laid out that make some typing tasks awkward?

That is why I am really hoping there is a virtual keyboard. Typing on a full QWERTY with one hand is difficult enough when there isn't a "chin" between your hand and the keyboard, it will be tough with it.

I am sure there will be a virtual keyboard...if not, there will be one shortly after its release. Although, I do know know enough about the capabilities of the touchscreen to tell whether or not it will be able to operate a virtual keyboard.

To be honest the good thing about being human is that we adapt. Chin or not, if you use anything long enough you adapt yourself to where you can use it efficiently.

If it not built in with it already there are already apps written to do it.
