This is a good idea – maybe a simulated faux version of what the BB Storm does.

I would imagine this would be a huge drain on a battery that’s already lacking stamina, but could be good tactile feedback if the timing can keep pace with speedy texting.

First off, let me tell you your QSearch app rocks. Thank you so much.

Before I got G1, I was never really bothered that it did not have a virtual keyboard. I love using my Curve's keyboard and wasn't a big fan of my iPod Touch's virtual one.

But now that I have my G1, I stand in line with the other people waitingggg for the virtual keyboard. It just might be laziness on my part but sliding that keyboard just to type a simple and short txt msg is too much trouble hahahahaha!

Well, I just we'll get our virtual keyboard soon

While looking through the site I stumbled upon a "code review" section which seems to be a place for developers to upload there changes to Android and maintain the code. Well, I found one for Virtual keyboard for the entire platform, here is the link:

To my surprise it is very similar to my keyboard, with the same concept but off course this one has a whole new level of complexity being for the whole OS. I looked at the code and it looks promising.

I'm not sure what happens with this code but it's something eh?

Yeah, I'm with you, the curves keyboard is very nice, I miss it so much . I think it's just the open-close-open=close thing that kind of bothers me. I'm still holding tight hoping android gets better. Qsms is coming along pretty nice as I have learned more about the sdk and realized some things i could have coded better for Qsearch.

I now found another person working on one, so thats me and 2 other guys and google working on the same thing. I do not think it is worth the time I'm spending on it considering we will have an official VK pretty soon.

If I remember correctly, the VK is on the roadmap for Q1 2009.

Seriously, why waste your effort typing this? For the ignorant: Sometimes it's very useful to be able to type with one hand. For example, while driving or carrying something. I've already come across the need for a one-handed on screen keyboard after having the phone a few weeks.

I WISH THAT I COuld...damned caps lock... set my phone so it was ALWAYS landscape. Not even auto rotate. just always landscape.

i love it landscape but i dont want to have the KB flipped out. infact if i could rip the KB off i would.

i wouldnt imagine a little 1ms vibe would kill the battery anymore.

jmejiaa, your QSearch app is excellent. One of the best things that I've downloaded. Right up there with AnyCut except that for me Anycut is a use once app and yours is constantly used.

I tried HandCent SMS sender yesterday because it said that it had a VK. Wow, not even close to the VK in QSearch. Lots of times I'd hit a letter, the letter would show that it had been hit, but wouldn't actually show up on the screen. Not only that, but it didn't auto-rotate which is really nice.

I suspect that if you finish your QSMS, it'll be as good as any commercial venture. I understand if you don't have time, but I'd love it if you finish.
