they better have a good way of preventing piracy..
otherwise, market sucks
wonder how the iphone market handles that
they don't allow you to get applications from outside sources, which is the first barrier against it.
but if you have a jailbroken iphone I believe there is a program that allows you to copy them now. which in a sense is the first step in pirating a program... so its part of that neverending battle.
there will always be a way to get pirated software. iPhone has Cydia which is basically a pirated appstore
WM has numerous cracked software websites on the web, or as usual, torrents.
I'm guessing that if Google somehow blocks jailbreaking the phone which is usually figured out anyway, you would still be able to install a pirated .apk through the option to allow installation of non-market apps. Just one hacker has to pay for the app, crack it and post it to a host site. Android users can then manually install it. Either way pirating is going to happen.
Jailbroken iPhones have an application that will allow rampant piracy of any AppStore app. Ironically, the author charges for it, and it got pirated (and was apparently surprised that people would pirate a pirating app).
One would hope that Google watched this whole fiasco unfold and learned from Apple's mistakes.
That's why I think every developer should handle piracy on his own...
