I think I heard someone mention something that you would have to restore it to factory settings for you to put in a different email address. Which wouldn't be a big deal since you'd probably transfer your numbers and events to your new gmail account.

Don't quote me on it. lol

FTR , yes you can manage multiple gmails.. just sign out and then sign in . but you must have a gmail account, that is the requirement.

You are not going to be locked to one email nor have to jump through hoops to change it.

I currently use the mail fetcher embedded in gmail to manage and see in labels my mixed accounts for personal work and art etc.. and it should still be the same for my gmail account on the gphone since its account implemented.

Not being able to sign out would be a security flaw.

Actually, the built-in GMail app with push support only allows one GMail account. Any other accounts, GMail or otherwise, have to be put into the regular e-mail app.

It has been discovered that to switch GMail accounts on the phone (for push e-mail, contacts, and calendar), a factory reset has to be performed, erasing all sensitive data.

This is straight from many people who have demoed the phone.

Hmmmm I've never really thought about "push emails". I have the blackberry curve and I know it has push email that's why I get my msgs instantly. So when I get the G1 and the email app will not have the push, is there a significant lag of receiving email??

*sorry if this question was already answered on some other threads*

Well, what I just said is that the GMail app IS push e-mail.

So, all you need to do is go into the web interface of your CURRENT e-mail address, and tell it to automatically forward all e-mail messages to your GMail address. That way, as soon as your "whatever@hotmail.com" address gets a message, it is immediately forwarded to "whoever@gmail.com" and thus PUSHED to your device.

You can also set up your GMail account to "Send mail as 'whatever@hotmail.com'" so that no one will ever know you have a GMail account...it will look as though it was written through Hotmail even though you wrote it using the Push GMail client on your phone.

No, I was curious about the additional 5 email apps coz they're not going to have the push.

The seperate e-mail app (Called E-Mail on the device as opposed to GMail) will allow you to "fetch" up to 5 additional e-mail addresses.

It will function as "fetch", meaning that it will not PUSH new messages to you, you need to set the app to FETCH for you on a time schedule (15, 30, 60 minutes) or manually (only check when I push the button).

I exported my contacts from my prfoessional account to my personal, started using Google Calendar all in anticipation.

Only one account syncs contacts, etc.

You can display more than one calendar (though technically it is just the one calendar and it has a subscription to the other one).

The other email you will have to check as a POP3 in the other mail reader.
