So for almost 3 weeks now my 3G service has stopped working. It only works on Edge. I did a hard reset and everything and still doesnt work. Tried getting a new sim still nothing. I talked to the people at tech support and what they said that G1's are registered on different 3G networks and the one my serial number is registered on is possibly down and having trouble. Im not sure how it all works or if thats even true but now its been 3 weeks now you telling me that it still hasnt been fixed yet ? ? ? I mean Im paying for service and it doesnt even work. Can the phone be possibly messed up ? ? ?
I'd stay on top of them and talk to someone else. I've never heard of such a thing. I can understand it being down a few hours. Maybe a day. But NOT three weeks. Check your phone setting ( in case an app overrode it). Also speak to a rep about getting a credit for the 3 weeks you haven't had service! Don't be passive...they'll screw yu over if yu sit back.

Call back - tell the automated system "Blackberry" and you'll go straight to 3rd tier (smartphones, PDAs, Blackberry, and G1) - Tell them how long you've been down and I know they will get right on it right away. if you don't like who you talked to, hang up, wait 1 minute and call back - you'll get someone new.
have them open up a ticket for your area as well so an engineer can come out and examine the towers

I was having problems with my 3G and edge. Most of the time I had no connection at all.
Called 611 then "PDA", it sent me straight to the "good" tech support
They checked if there was any problem in my area and some other stuff then they said my phone was defective and it would be replaced under warranty.
I received my replacement phone today but UPS delivered while I was at work... now I need to wait until tomorrow to get my phone at my apt. office.

Thanks all. Yea im about to blow up the tech support phone line again because this is too crazy. I think it has to be the phone that is defective. But ima keep bugging them.
did they have u check your network selection?
for a day or so last month i was only on Edge, then i thought about checking the network like i used to do on my old, broke-ass Dash fone. On the lovely G1 its: settings> wireless ctrls> mobile nets> operator selection> search networks.
hopefully you'll see 2 "T-Mobile" networks listed after the search. they look the same but one is the 3g netwk, and the other is the Edge.
tap one and see if u get your 3g back, if not try the other.
Yea Ive done all that and more many times haha. But after talking them AGAIN and AGAIN, I finally got them to just send me a replacement phone finally ! ! ! Coming in sometime in the next week. I finally talked to someone that was cool and he said he will but it as defective off the back and send me a new one. Thanks again people.
